NotchNook Mirror: a camera check before your next call

The Mirror in NotchNook is useful in the moment before a call: check how you appear, make a small adjustment and return to the meeting you are about to join.

Prepare the camera tool

Open the Mirror and grant the camera permission needed for it. macOS manages camera access by application, so the permission for a meeting app and the permission for NotchNook are separate settings.

If you are setting up the app for the first time, test the Mirror before the meeting begins. This gives you time to handle the normal permission prompt and check the picture without doing it in the middle of joining.

Check the things that can be changed quickly

Look at framing, light and the area behind you. Move the laptop or adjust the light if needed. The aim is a brief preparation step, not a new window that remains part of the call.

Keep a short agenda in the Nook’s notes if it helps you prepare. You can check the camera and glance at the questions you want to ask before opening the meeting.

  • Framing: your face and the part of the room you intend to show.
  • Light: whether the preview is clear enough for the call.
  • Preparation: the correct meeting event and the questions you want to ask.

Join from the event you are attending

If your calendar event includes a supported meeting link, use the calendar view to reach it. The call itself remains in the meeting service you use.

If the Mirror needs attention, include the macOS version, NotchNook version and exact camera behavior in a support request. A description such as “permission prompt appears” or “the preview is empty” is more useful than a general statement that the camera is not working.
